PUNJAB: Gas loadshedding continues for a third consecutive day with more than  1,500 factories in Punjab still without gas.

Hundreds of thousands of daily wagers are without work and the load shedding is costing industries millions of rupees in losses.

The textile sector alone suffers Rs200 million of losses in one day with more than 200 thousand laborers rendered jobless.

Though Punjab has been divided into four zones for the purpose of loadshedding, all factories in the province are closed and will remain so till the September 17.

A five day gas suspension is being observed for the first time in the summer.

Sui gas officials say the suspension is due to the shutdown of the Qadirpur gas field.

CNG stations remain closed

The Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited has revised gas loadshedding plan to one day after withdrawing notification in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to the new plan, CNG stations will remain closed in Multan, Faisalabad Rawalpindi, Lahore and all over the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for one day today but will open tomorrow.

All Pakistan CNG association chairman Ghayas Paracha has attributed the shortfall of gas to the closure of Qadirpur gas field.

He said that Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited had decided to close down the CNG stations on September 13 and 14 but implmentation was deferred for a day due to Eid.
