KARACHI:
Imran Farhat will head to South Africa to replace opening batsman Taufeeq Umar who was ruled out of the tour after a leg injury.

A Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) official, while confirming the replacement, said that Umar, who has played in 43 Tests, will return home after being advised a four-week rest following scans.

The left-handed batsman also missed the four-day practice match against South Africa Invitational XI and instead, was replaced by Nasir Jamshed who is likely to make his Test debut tomorrow in Johannesburg.

The official added the decision was taken after a request from the team management.

“He showed good form in the domestic season and his experience will also be an advantage for the team,” said the official.

The left-handed batsman has recently scored 184 runs, including a century, in a match for Lahore Ravi during the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy.
