As a result of poverty and education, the majority of youth are not aware of their Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights.

KARACHI:

An estimated 103 million Pakistanis, which is around 63 per cent of the total population of the country, fall under the age of 25 years. As a result of poverty and education, however, the majority of youth are not aware of their Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR).

These statistics and views were shared by HAYAT, a project of the Lifeline Campaign, at a seminar held in collaboration with the Action for Humanitarian Development on Wednesday

The campaign also plans to introduce a comprehensive SRHR-based curriculum at the district level educational system. The project manager, Anwarul Haq Tabassum said that his organisation had also discussed the issue with religious scholars, including Maulana Raghib Hussain Naeemi of the Jamia Naeemia.
