PESHAWAR:

Four members of the banned outfit Ansarul Islam were killed in Gulbara, Masho Khel in the jurisdiction of the Badabher police station on the outskirt of Peshawar last night.

Police said that Zarbab Khan, Khan Bahadar, Amir and Jehangir were found dead inside a small guest room where they were staying. Each of the victims had received multiple gunshots.

“They had been killed in the night. But no one noticed it and when the family members entered the room in the morning, they found their guests dead,” said a police official of the Badabher police station.

All the slain men were residents of Malikdin Khel area of Khyber Agency and were said to be active members of Ansarul Islam. They had shifted to Masho Khel in fear of their lives after developing differences with the rival militia Lashker-e-Islam.

It may be mentioned here that the Mufti Mehbobul Haq-led Ansarul Islam is based in the far-flung Tirah valley of Khyber Agency and is engaged in a bloody war against Lashker-e-Islam for the past seven years.

Talking to The Express Tribune, a member of the peace militia in Masho Khel, Israr Khan, said that Zarbab was also an active member of a local peace militia as he and his three friends were considered strictly anti-Lashker-e-Islam.

“We don’t know who killed them, but it seems that they have been killed by Lashker-e-Islam members,” he said.
