PESHAWAR:

Khyber-Paktunkhwa (K-P) Governor Barrister Masood Kausar on Wednesday distributed compensation cheques to bereaved families of the 21 levies personnel killed by militants on December 22 in Frontier Region (FR) Peshawar.

“In a democratic system, guns are not used. Rather, the verdict of the people supersedes other things. People are allowed to work for their own well being as well as for development of the society,” said Kausar during the distribution ceremony held at the Governor House.

Cheques of Rs3 million were given to each family of the 21 slain personnel, whereas cheques of Rs0.15 million were handed to the two injured officers.

The governor also announced support for the affected families in the form of medical facilities as well as employment for one person from each family.

He promised to equip both the levies and khasadar forces with the required training and weapons to prevent such incidents from happening in the future.

Additional Chief Secretary of Fata, Dr Tashfeen Khan and other senior officials of the Fata Secretariat were also present at the occasion.
