KARACHI: A delegation of principals of 12 colleges visited the newly-established Benazir Bhutto Shaheed University in Lyari on Wednesday to review the institution before finalising affiliations for their degree programmes.

The degree colleges located in Lyari, Malir, Gadap and Keamari that are currently affiliated with University of Karachi (KU) and generate annual revenue worth Rs30 million for the institution, were directed by the Sindh education department last year to get their institutions affiliated with the Lyari University, the KU examinations controller, Dr Arshad Azmi, told The Express Tribune.

Later, in a meeting with officials of the Lyari University, the KU administration had agreed to surrender affiliation of the colleges as approved by the university’s syndicate. Meanwhile, six other degree colleges currently affiliated with the Board of Intermediate Education are also likely to be affiliated with the newly established university.
