Appointment rules: LHC hears appeal of PTA ex-chief
The ex-chairman of PTA said he was appointed after the prime minister’s approval.
LAHORE:
A Lahore High Court (LHC) bench ordered the government to submit a reply on the appointment of former chairman of Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Farooq Awan by February 24.
The bench was hearing an intra court appeal (ICA) filed by Awan against an earlier ruling which ordered his removal from the post. A single bench had declared his appointment unlawful based on a petition filed by a local citizen who alleged that the former chairman was hired without following the selection procedure laid in the Telecommunication Act and consideration of other eligible candidates for the position.
The ex-chairman of PTA said he was appointed after the prime minister’s approval.
