Eid Miladun Nabi: Section 144 imposed in Attock district

A contingency plan for Eid Miladun Nabi and for the month of Rabiul Awwal has been chalked out on the pattern of Muharram and a state of emergency has been declared in all hospitals of Attock district for Friday.


This was stated by Attock District Coordination Officer (DCO) Usman Ahmad Chaudhry while chairing a high-level meeting of District Peace Committee Attock held at District Council Attock to review the arrangements for Eid Miladun Nabi.

Moreover, Section 144 has also been imposed on pillion riding, brandishing, carrying and display of weapons. Nobody will be allowed to stand on rooftops along the routes of the Eid Miladun Nabi processions. These restrictions have been implemented within the revenue limits of Attock district.


The DCO has directed all assistant commissioners to ensure cleanliness on the routes of processions and removal of sectarian wall chalking.

Moreover, officials from Rescue 1122, Bomb Disposal Squad and the health department will accompany the processions. The Department of Civil Defence will coordinate with the district police to tackle any untoward situation. The DCO requested that no objectionable speech or slogan be raised during processions and mahafil and sought full cooperation from the members of District Peace Committee Attock.

Addressing the meeting, Attock District Police Officer (DPO) Abbas Majeed Marwat said 117 processions will be taken out from the district in Rabiul Awwal. Some 46 processions including six mahafil will take place on Friday.

Foolproof security arrangements have been made which will include the deployment of police troops, personnel from special branch and other agencies.

The DPO appealed to members of the District Peace Committee to ask their volunteers and participants to cooperate with the district police to ensure foolproof security arrangements.
