The Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday disqualified Balochistan Labour and Manpower Minister Maulvi Sarwar Mosakhel on the basis of his educational certificate being adequate.

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) told the court that the certificate of the minister from the seminary was not equal to a graduation degree.

The court also ordered the election commission to hold by-polls in his constituency.

Mosakhel was elected from PB-15 and contested elections on the basis of a madrassa degree, after which his opponent challenged his success in the SC.

So far two members of the Balochistan assembly have been disqualified on the bases of their educational certificates including Mir Zahoor Khosa.
