KARACHI:

Karachi University’s management (KU) has appealed to the Sindh High Court (SHC) to prevent the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) from conducting allegedly illegal proceedings.

The SHC issued notices to the deputy attorney general on Monday to file replies of the interior ministry, the FIA director-general and other officials by February 14. KU’s lawyer said the investigations resulted from the suspension of a security officer, Captain (retd) Muhammad Zahid Maqsood, who had taken KU to court earlier.

Even though he won the case, he is trying to pressure the university management, said the lawyer. On his complaint, the FIA had initiated various inquiries into funds utilisation, appointments and lands matters, he added.
