Bara killings: Political administration accepts demands of tribesmen
The PA agreed to provide compensation of Rs0.7 million to each family of the deceased tribesmen.

The political administration of Khyber Agency accepted three conditions of the agency’s elders in a grand jirga held on Monday.
The jirga members included Malik Waris Khan of Pakistan Peoples Party, Shah Faisal Afridi of Jamaat-e-Islami, Iqbal Afridi of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and Bara bazaar President Maqbali Khan, among others. They met Khyber Agency Political Agent Mutahir Zab Khan in wake of the killing of 18 tribesmen last week.
The PA agreed to provide compensation of Rs0.7 million to each family of the deceased tribesmen, the formation of an independent inquiry of missing persons in the agency who will be released in 24 hours if they are innocent. He added that the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa governor will also form a judicial commission to investigate the Bara killings.
The political agent asked the elders to provide suggestions regarding the re-opening of Bara bazaar and halting military operation in Bara. The PA said the jirga’s recommendations would be discussed with the governor, corps commander, Peshawar and the prime minister.
“We will raise the issue of shelling on the houses of innocent people with Frontier Corps Commandant and inform him about tribesmen’s grievances to prevent such incidents in the future,” the PA told the jirga.
Malik Waris said: “We will give suggestions for the reopening of Bara bazaar on Wednesday and will fully support the government in this regard.”
He added they would also negotiate with the government regarding the halting of the military operation and would soon provide a list of missing persons.
