BARA:

At least five volunteers of the Shalober peace militia were injured in a blast that took place in the wee hours of the morning in the Bara tehsil area on Sunday.

An official informed that the volunteers were patrolling the troubled tehsil of the Khyber Agency when a planted Improvised Explosive Device (IED) went off, injuring five tribesmen. The official added that the injured were taken to Peshawar Hospital.

Due to the ongoing military operation in the area, the names of the victims could not be ascertained.

Volunteers in the troubled areas of Sipah, Akka Khel and Shalobar are constantly being targeted by militants. A militant commander was killed in a clash that took place in the Bara tehsil on Januray 14. The clashes had also injured three volunteers of the Akka Khel peace militia.

18 bullet-riddled bodies were also found in the Bara on January 15.
