As far as Kill Dil is concerned, Ali will be seen in a rugged avatar for a change. The 32-year-old star says he will start exercising to get in shape. “I will be working out to gain some muscle for this film after we wrap up Neeraj Panday’s Aman Ki Asha,” Ali told The Express Tribune via email.
After Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, this is his second film under YRF banner. He says he “feels very privileged to work with YRF banner once again”.
When asked about the story, the versatile artist refused to reveal the plot of the film but did say that he is very excited about the role. “I am actually very excited for this role because action has been my favourite genre since I was a child.”
Ali’s publicist Ammara Hikmat said the film will go on floors in October and will release in 2014.
Dancing with fame
The talented musician, who made his debut in the Pakistani music industry in 2003 with album Huqa Pani, made his way to Bollywood with an unconventional movie Tere Bin Laden. After his performance as an ambitious young reporter, Ali not only gained recognition as an actor worldwide, but also got offers from big banners like YRF.
His second breakthrough was YRF’s Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, where he acted alongside Imran Khan and Katrina Kaif and also provided vocals for its catchy song Madhubala. While Ali was nominated for his debut film, he won the Stardust Award 2012 for Superstar of Tomorrow Male for Mere Brother Ki Dulhan. At the same ceremony, he bagged the award for New Musical Sensation for Madhubala.
Ali’s next film London, Paris, New York, in which he stars opposite Aditi Rao Hyderi, saw a dull response at the box office but managed to attract attention overseas. This year, fans will see him playing the boy-next-door in the remake of the 1981 film Chashme Buddoor, which is set to release on April 5.

I think it's about time Indians (and pakistanis) stopped acting like a bunch of immature kids and got their act together. Learn to live, respect, and work,together instead of making slurs at each other...and by the way...if Ali zafar isn't a heartthrob in India already, I think Indians should open their eyes and look again...
I think ali zafar is a great actor & musician. If he is making a name for himself in India then I don't get the problem is with people, especially Indians. Why the negative bigotry? The negative comments over this article make me believe that Indians are just pure jealous of a Muslim pakistani who is trying to make a name for himself. Ali zafar is good looking fellow and a great actor...Indians should learn to appreciate such talent.
Can't wait for his new movie Kill Dill. I bet its gonna be really good.
@FP: "If you indian have self respect then stop casting Pakistani talent and stop watching their movies. Why ‘Mere Brother ki Dulhan’ and ‘Tere Bin Laden’ generate high revenues if you hate Pakistani heroes"
First of all @Yoghutrt Lover hates Bollywood - whoever the actors are. Having said that Ali Zafar was NOT the lead actor of Mere Brother ki Dulhan, Imran Khan was Revenue for Tere bin laden was merely 5 crores.
The Real RockStar, can't wait for the movie!!!
@Yoghurt Lover:
If Indians had an inch of self respect, then they would not watch Pakistani coke studio, and listen to our music.
Let's appreciate talent and not get snobby

I only liked Ali Zafar in "Teray Bin Ladin". His "London Paris New York" was pathetic. Btw, Ms. Inam, a very well written article.
Here's someone who's breaking perceptions through doing something noone has and look at petty comments. Get a life. U dont know how to value your artists that's why they leave. But he still lives in pakistan.
@Yoghurt Lover
USA kills Pakistani soldiers, violates its airspace to catch terrorists, kills civilians with drones, its agents kill Pakistanis and go away scot free (Raymond Davis ) . Still Pakistanis go and watch hollywoood movies from USA and even want to migrate there. Problem is with increasing talibanism Pakistani society, culture and infrastructure is providing lesser and lesser space for Pak artists and singers to grow . So they flock to India. They cant go to any other industry worth mentioning. They dont look Chinese / Korean so cant fit there. In hollywood perhaps south asians would get roles of a cab driver/ nonsensical characters if they are lucky. So they flock to India to show their talent.
If Pakistanis start having too much of the ghairat they would be left out of entertainment from two of the beiggest film industries in the world, Bollywood and Hollywood
Stop watching Indian Movies @ Pakistan. @Yoghurt lover:
@Another Indian who writes "Mr. Indian, I am also an Indian but I respect this pakistani singer & actor a lot. I think he is extremely talented that’s why earned this place in Bollywood."
I can tell you from your comment that you do not understand art or talent.
Otherwise you wouldn't have used the words "earning a place" and 'Bollywood' in the same sentence.
Most indian actors and actresses are old and no new good looking actresses or actors are coming from india while Pakistani singers,actresses,actors are in demand despite the tension of border. Why because Pakistani are very good looking n have much lighter skin compare to Indian. I suggest they should never goto india but india ask them to.
@Harshvardhan sharma: You are right. I am ashamed, and I'm sorry that I'm a Pakistani. I'm sorry that a talented artist like Ali Zafar outgrew Pakistan and needed to move to India where the infrastructure is mature enough to support him and help him grow. India rewards him and it is only logical that he is flourishing there.
@Author: While I wish Ali Zafar the best, I am amazed to read this - "Pakistani actor Ali Zafar did not take long to become India’s heartthrob" .. U guys seriously need to get a trait named - "Humility"
Mr. Indian, I am also an Indian but I respect this pakistani singer & actor a lot. I think he is extremely talented that's why earned this place in Bollywood.
Well since pakistanis themselves don't have any film industry they r coming to India for their livelihood
What's happening to Bollywood? Guys like Himesh Reshamiya, Ali Zafar are singing and doing lead roles in movies!!!
Where is Sonu Nigam?
"Pakistani actor Ali Zafar did not take long to become India’s heartthrob..."
Sorry, he is not India's heartthrob...
How can you work in India, when Indian army is killing your soldiers, Indian sports events are denying Pakistanis and Pakistani artists are denied to perform in India.
Musharraf is spewing venom on India.
Have some self respect Ali and say no to money.
Wishing you all the best!
