Formula One: Improvements needed, says McLaren official

McLaren’s sporting director Sam Michael admits the team needs to move forward with their strategies.

McLaren’s sporting director Sam Michael admits the team needs to move forward with their strategies if they hope to take the fight to Red Bull and Ferrari this season, according to PlanetF1.

Last year, Michael’s first full season at McLaren, the Woking team did not manage to put in a title challenge due to reliability woes, pit stop issues and other trials which cost the team to a large extent, resulting in McLaren finishing third in the Constructors’ Championship.

“You have to fix everything,” said Michael. “There are three main things in motor racing — there is performance, there is mechanical reliability and there is operational reliability. The first two are obvious, but the last one is all about asking yourself ‘Did you execute everything properly?’ It is all about removing any team errors from the equation.”
