Unabated violence: Eight die within an hour in Karachi
Two workers of Aalmi Khatm-e-Nabuwwat Conference shot dead in the precincts of Jamshed Quarters police.
KARACHI:
At least eight people died in incidents of violence and targeted attacks in Karachi within an hour on Friday night.
Two former activists of the outlawed Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistan sectarian group were shot dead in the Lasbela neighbourhood within the limits of Gulbahar police. Police said both were brothers and identified them as Ikhlaq Majeed and Irshad Majeed.
The police said gunmen riding a motorcycle shot dead the brothers, who owned an estate agency, in the Ramswami area.
Separately, two men were gunned down on New MA Jinnah Road within the precincts of Jamshed Quarters police. Both worked for Aalmi Khatm-e-Nabuwwat Conference. SHO Enayatullah Marwat said gunmen riding a motorcycle shot them dead.
In another incident, two persons were shot dead in Aram Bagh and Baldia neighbourhoods of the city. The victims could not be identified immediately.
Meanwhile, 22-year-old Waqas Rehman allegedly committed suicide after shooting a teenage girl whom he was in love with in the upscale Defence View area.
DSP Altaf Hussain said Waqas, a resident of Azam Basti in Mehmoodabad, wanted to marry the girl – but when his proposal was rejected he went to her house and first shot the 17-year-old girl, before turning the gun on himself.
