At least eight people died in incidents of violence and targeted attacks in Karachi within an hour on Friday night.
Two former activists of the outlawed Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistan sectarian group were shot dead in the Lasbela neighbourhood within the limits of Gulbahar police. Police said both were brothers and identified them as Ikhlaq Majeed and Irshad Majeed.
The police said gunmen riding a motorcycle shot dead the brothers, who owned an estate agency, in the Ramswami area.
Separately, two men were gunned down on New MA Jinnah Road within the precincts of Jamshed Quarters police. Both worked for Aalmi Khatm-e-Nabuwwat Conference. SHO Enayatullah Marwat said gunmen riding a motorcycle shot them dead.
In another incident, two persons were shot dead in Aram Bagh and Baldia neighbourhoods of the city. The victims could not be identified immediately.
Meanwhile, 22-year-old Waqas Rehman allegedly committed suicide after shooting a teenage girl whom he was in love with in the upscale Defence View area.
DSP Altaf Hussain said Waqas, a resident of Azam Basti in Mehmoodabad, wanted to marry the girl – but when his proposal was rejected he went to her house and first shot the 17-year-old girl, before turning the gun on himself.

Karachi should be contracted out to Black Water to bring law and order.
As an Indian I feel very sad... Pakistan is a great country... Karachi is a beautiful city... I don't know much about the ground level but if you look using Google Maps you can see how it is nicely planned... with the Defence Housing Authority and Gulberg etc... it's a desert so there is space to plan it out... compared to Mumbai which has no space and cannot be planned... one day maybe when visas are easy I would like to come to Karachi to drive or to Islamabad... which also looks beautifully planned... and what a pleasure it would be to drive on the motorway from Lahore to Islamabad... I know Pakistani people don't like Hindus but we should try and bridge the gap... I felt disappointed when they abandoned the proposal to rename the chowk in Lahore as 'Bhagat Singh Chowk' because of religious protests against the idea...
Get this under control now......or it is going to become another Beirut of the 80s.
