ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Friday served notices to the respondents in the Ephedrine quota case regarding the bail cancellation issue.

A two-judge bench comprising Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhary and Justice Jawwad S Khawaja took up appeals of the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) seeking bail cancellation of the accused - owner of a drug company, Nadeem Zafar, and Drug Controller Sheikh Ansaar Ahmad.

The ANF prosecutor Shahid Abbasi moved a petition in the apex court for the cancellation of bail of the accused who were granted bail by the Lahore High Court. Abbasi said that these people not only committed an offence by the allotment of an excess quota of 2500kg instead of 50kg to the Afghan government but were also involved in forgery.
