Targeted: Cleric gunned down in Nowshera
Abdul Malik was shot around 6am when he was going to the mosque for Fajr prayers, says police.
A cleric was gunned down by unidentified assailants when he was on his way to a mosque in Akbarpura area in district Nowshera in the early hours of Wednesday.
According to police reports, Abdul Malik was shot around 6am when he was going to the mosque for Fajr prayers. His father, Muhammad Hashim, heard sound of gunshots and a few minutes later neighbours showed up at his door and told him about the incident.
Mian Rashid Shaheed Hospital Incharge of casualty police, Karim Dad Khan, confirmed the news adding that the deceased was brought to the hospital for autopsy around 7am.
