District administration: Cleanliness week begins in RY Khan

DCO says that encroachments blight the city’s beauty.

BAHAWALPUR:
A cleanliness week began in Rahim Yar Khan on Wednesday. It was inaugurated by District Coordination Officer Nabeel Javed, who directed the district administration workers to ensure that the filth on the roads, in the parks and on green belts were removed this week. Addressing the inaugural ceremony at the tehsil municipal administration office, the DCO directed the workers to rid the city of garbage heaps and fix over-flowing sewers. He said encroachments also blighted the city’s beauty and should be removed. He said he would personally monitor the cleanliness week activities. Mian Imtiaz Ahmad, a former advisor to chief minister, said that cleanliness staff should work with honesty and work together to make Rahim Yar Khan clean and beautiful. He said the city had been cleaner during former nazim Mian Ejaz Ahmad’s tenure. Tehsil Municipal Officer Chaudhry Arshad Waraich briefed the DCO and other officials about the arrangements made for the cleanliness week.
