New appointments: Four UAF departments get new chairmen

The approval came in a university syndicate meeting on Wednesday.

The University of Agriculture Faisalabad’s (UAF) syndicate has approved appointments of four new department chairmen. The syndicate meeting was held on Wednesday with UAF VC Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan in chair.


Dr Muhammad Jalal Arif has been appointed as the new chairman of the Department of Agricultural Entomology. This is a three-year appointment. Dr Arif also holds office as principal officer of the university’ Public Relations and Publications Department and the Information Technology Resource Centre and Data Bank since 2008.

He has been looking after the affairs of a bi-annual scientific journal Pakistan Entomologist as its editor-in-chief and the convener of the editorial board of a student’s magazine at the university titled Kisht-i-Nau. Dr Arif has supervised two PhDs and has been on the advisory board for several other PhD theses.



Other appointments include appointment of Dr Muhammad Aslam Pervaiz as director of the Institute of Horticultural Sciences, Dr Abdus Salam Khan as chairman of the Plant Breeding and Genetics Department, Dr Muhammad Asghar Bajwa as chairman of the Chemistry and Biochemistry Department, and Dr Mahmood Ahmad Randhawa as the Continuing Education Department chairman.
