KARACHI:
Traffic flow on Sharae Faisal, Karachi was disrupted after angry protesters gathered near the Finance and Trade Centre (FTC) building on Wednesday, Express News reported.
Two vehicles were reportedly set on fire. However, Jamshed Division SP Usman Bajwa denied, saying only tyres were torched.
The protesters dispersed when Pakistan Peoples Party MPA Qadir Patel visited the area.
Similar protests were also reported in other areas including Rizvia, Gulbahar, Old Golimar, Gulistane Jauhar, Sacchal, Pehlwan Goth and Safoora Goth.
Today’s protests are in continuation of yesterday’s agitation when people came out on roads condemning the apex court’s orders for the arrest of Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf.
The city’s arteries were clogged with an assortment of buses, cars, motorcycles, ambulances and police mobiles when protests broke out in different parts of Karachi.
The most affected areas were MA Jinnah Road near Jama Cloth Market, Drigh Road, Gulshan-e-Hadeed, Sharae Faisal, Pehlwan Goth, Sacchal Goth, Mauripur, Landhi, Malir and Quaidabad.
