Formula one: Perez can sort qualifying form
Perez accepts his weakness and knows he cannot just rely on improved machinery.
Sergio Perez has no doubts regarding his ability to overturn his poor qualifying form a thing of the past under McLaren’s support, according to Autosport.
Qualifying is a potential weakness for McLaren this season, with neither Perez nor teammate Jenson Button regarded as single-lap stars following Lewis Hamilton’s exit.
Perez’s status for lacking qualifying pace was forged even before Formula One, as he regularly had to rely on race-day charges in Formula 3 and GP2. However, Perez has accepted his weakness and knows he cannot just rely on improved machinery. “We have to attack qualifying a lot more and extract the maximum,” said Perez.
