CHARSADDA: A traffic police checkpoint was damaged here in an explosion early on Monday. Parang police Station House Officer (SHO) Ijaz Khan said the bomb went off on the Power Road near Farooq Azam Square at around 7:15am. A wall of the checkpoint was cracked, he said, adding that the bomb was planted in a canister close to the check post. “If it had been planted inside, the blast would have completely destroyed the building,” he said. He said about 3kg of explosive material was used in the bomb. The road was closed for traffic for about half an hour, before being re-opened.
