Capacity building: WFP offers to train food security officials
The WFP has offered providing modern equipment and training to officials of ministry of food security and research.
World Food Programme (WFP) has prepared a plan worth Rs35 million for implementing the National Zero Hunger Action Plan (NZHAP).
The WFP has offered providing modern equipment and training to officials of ministry of food security and research. The newly formed ministry lacks trained staff and resources, which are the main barriers in implementing the NZHAP.
Therefore, the WFP has decided to ensure capacity building to achieve better and productive results. An official source on Friday told APP that WFP and the ministry would soon sign Letter of Agreement. The official said as per new plan the government has been asked to provide 0.5 million ton of wheat each year to WFP which would be distributed in districts facing food insecurity.
He said under the plan the officials of the ministry would also be sent to other countries, especially the Brazil for training and orientation purpose, as Brazil has successfully implemented a programme for eradicating the hunger.
