Transitions: Electrocution takes Abbas Sharif’s life
Rasm-e-Qul to be held on Sunday at 1pm at Raiwind.

Mian Abbas Sharif, younger brother of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, passed away on Friday afternoon after being electrocuted. He was 58.
He has been buried beside his father, Mian Sharif, in Raiwind. The Rasm-e-Qul will be held on Sunday at 1pm at Raiwind.
According to details provided, Abbas was shifted to a nearby hospital in Sharif Medical City where he was given first aid, but he could not survive.
His brothers, Nawaz and Shahbaz will meet those visiting to deliver condolences between 2pm to 4pm on Saturday in Raiwind.
Pakistan Muslim League Quaid-e-Azam (PML-Q)’s leaders Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, Pervaiz Elahi, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Punjab President Manzoor Hussain Wattoo, PPP Leader of the House in Senate Jahangir Badar and Justices (retd) Khawaja Sharif and Khalil ur Rehman Ramdey participated in Abbas’ funeral prayers at Raiwind on Friday.
Biography
Abbas was the youngest among his siblings. He is survived by two sons, two daughters and his wife.
Abbas ran the family business and lived with the Sharif family in Raiwind.
He was once an MNA, but he later quit politics. In the 1993 by-election he defeated PPP’s Azizul Rehman Chan. The seat, NA 118, was vacated by his elder brother Nawaz Sharif.
Condolence messages
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf expressed profound grief and sorrow over the demise of Abbas Sharif. The president said he prayed to God to grant courage to the bereaved family to bear the loss with fortitude.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan, Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi, President Javed Hashmi, Secretary General Dr Arif Alvi and Information Secretary Shafqat Mahmood also expressed deep sorrow on the sad demise of Nawaz’s younger brother.
