ISLAMABAD:
Rescue 15 in Islamabad was flooded with over half a million calls in 2012 and managed an average response time of roughly four minutes, said a press release on Thursday.
Of these, 196,361 were general information calls, while 18,496 distress calls were received.
Another 1,210 calls were received for ambulance services. In his statement praising Rescue 15’s efforts, IGP Islamabad Bani Amin Khan highlighted the service’s importance as a means of relief to people in distress.
“The way Rescue 15 is serving the citizens is praise worthy,” he said.
Khan added a line of encouragement by saying that Rescue 15 should discharge its duties with zeal, and that rescue and relief services should be further improved over time.
These directives were echoed by SSP Islamabad Yaseen Farooq who directed Rescue 15 to make concerted efforts to ensure maximum coverage and service and to further improve response times. Rescue 15 has 38 vehicles in its fleet.
