Successor announced: ANP chooses new parliamentary leader

PESHAWAR:
A meeting of Awami National Party’s parliamentary party presided over by Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Amir Haider Khan Hoti was held on Thursday at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat to appoint a new parliamentary leader.
“After the martyrdom of former party parliamentary leader Bashir Ahmad Bilour, Provincial Information Minister Mian Iftikhar Hussain was unanimously chosen as the new parliamentary leader in the provincial assembly,” read the official handout.
Joint prayers were offered for the slain leader and rich tributes were paid to his sacrifice and gallant role, it added.
Provincial Sports Minister Syed Aqil Shah proposed the name of Hussain which was backed by all members of the parliamentary party.
Speaking on the occasion, Hoti said “Bashir Ahmad Bilour has played his role, in and outside the assembly, commendably and the space created due to his martyrdom can’t be filled.”
He hoped that Hussain will maintain the same customs of brotherhood and political harmony that was set forth by his predecessor.

Meanwhile, the chief minister also met MPAs during the weekly meetings at his office to discuss matters pertaining to development and problems confronting the people.
