Minor missing: 10-year-old girls goes missing from JPMC
Parents and relatives of kidnapping victim hold protest outside Saddar police station, demand she be found quickly.
KARACHI:
The parents and relatives of 10-year-old Ayesha, who was abducted from the tuck shop in Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) on Wednesday, held a protest outside the Saddar police station demanding that she be traced quickly.
“Ayesha was standing near the queue where I was waiting for my ultrasound,” said Ayesha’s mother, Irshad Bibi. “She just came here [the tuck shop] to fill her water bottle.”
The father of the missing girl, Saeed Akram, said that he was working in a vegetable market at the Super Highway and it took him a few hours to arrive. He explained that initially he tried to trace her. By evening, they decided to report to the police. “Police officials were reluctant to investigate at first but after we protested outside the police station, the investigation began,” he explained.
A security official explained that JPMC is one of the biggest and busiest hospitals in Sindh and police officials and security guards stand on duty round the clock. The incident took place during peak hours, he added, requesting anonymity. The investigation officer, Chaudary Irshad, said that the police have taken four people into custody and the girl will, hopefully, be located soon.
