Manchar Lake braces for rising waters

Water level at Manchar Lake rises to 115 feet.

The water level at Manchar Lake in Dadu district reached a dangerous a point on Saturday.

The authorities opened all seven spillway gates of the reservoir to ensure that the lake does not overflow and inundate adjoining villages, and areas of Sehwan and Bhan Saeed Abad.


According to Flood Emergency Control Room, the water level has reached 115 feet.

Earlier, people of the area were happy with fresh water from the River Indus entering Manchar Lake for the first time since 1990, as contaminated water from the Right Bank Outfall Drain (RBOD) had poisoned the 233-square-kilometre lake for a long time.
