Police says after observing the needle injuries, it seems as if the girl had been tortured by an occultist.ed in three to four working days.
The body of a girl was found lying on the roadside in Wazirabad on Tuesday. It bore bruises and wounds caused by sharp objects.
Some passers-by reported the body on Ahmed Nagar Road to the police in the morning.
They said the body was wrapped in a bed sheet. Saddar police said there were a very large number of needle pricks on the body and speculated that the girl had died during an exorcism attempt and her body later abandoned. They said the deceased appeared to be in her early 20s.
The body was sent for a post-mortem examination to the tehsil headquarters hospital. Announcements seeking help with the identification were made from the area mosque, but no one came forward.
Doctors, who carried the girl’s post-mortem, said that the body had been pierced with needles at some 100 points on her legs, arms, chest and back. They said there were also cuts on the neck. They said her legs and arms had been broken using rods. They said there were also burn marks on some parts of the body caused by a heated iron.
Police said after observing the needle injuries, it seemed as if the girl had been tortured by an occultist. She apparently died during the practice and the pir must have abandoned her body.
The body was handed over to the Caring Blood Society, a non government organisation, and buried in the area graveyard.
Police said they were investigation the matter.
