Social welfare: Bill on food security proposed

ISLAMABAD: A bill for food security allowance was proposed on Monday in the meeting of the Standing Committee on National Food Security and Research (NFSR) for the welfare of people living below the poverty line across Pakistan. The bill titled “Pakistan Food Security for Poor People bill 2013” was presented by MNA Tasneem Siddiqui in the meeting of the committee, under the chairmanship of Javed Iqbal Warrach.  Siddiqui said that it was a national plan of action to ensure food security to people of Pakistan who were living below poverty line. “The federal government shall determine different categories of people, belonging to different ages, keeping view their bare minimum food requirement through a notification in the official gazette before the presentation of annual budget,” Siddiqui said while explaining the proposed bill.
