ISLAMABAD:
Owners and operators of compressed natural gas (CNG) stations have announced that they will stage protests across the country on Tuesday to vent their anger over suspension of gas supply to filling stations.
Giving details of the protest schedule here on Monday, All Pakistan CNG Association Chairman Ghayas Abdullah Paracha said a protest rally would be held at Faizabad, Rawalpindi and another rally would be staged in front of Sui Southern Gas Company’s head office in Karachi.
A demonstration will also be held at Main Boulevard, Gulberg Chowk, Lahore and another one at Main GTS Chowk, Faisalabad.
In a statement, Paracha stressed that protest was the only option left to protect their rights, blaming a few for victimising the whole sector in the absence of a CNG policy.
“CNG station operators, who consume 7% of gas, are being victimised systematically, but those who are involved in gas theft are being encouraged,” he alleged.
Paracha appealed to the president and prime minister to intervene, save investments and provide relief to the people.
