Curbing crime: Two gangs of robbers busted

The Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) has busted two gangs of robbers and thieves and recovered robbed items from their possession, including a motorbike, mobile phones and arms, police spokesman said on Sunday.



Superintendent of Police Mustansir Feroz had tasked CIA to arrest suspected robbers and thieves involved in robbery and theft incidents in the capital city.

The CIA police arrested five suspected robbers, identified as Sajid Zaman Abbasi, resident of Khanna, Islamabad; Hamid Ejazul Haq and Khan Wali, residents of Jahaz Ground, Rawalpindi; Munib Shah, Aquib, resident of Gulistan Colony Rawalpindi.

The police recovered a motorcycle which was stolen from Industrial area police station precincts, 15 mobile phones, a laptop computer, and three pistols and ammunition and a dagger used in crimes.  The CIA team in another operation arrested two suspects involved in theft incidents. The same police arrested two suspects later who confessed to their involvement in lifting of vehicles.
