Crime roundup: Nearly 2,000 people arrested in Attock last year

During the year 2012, the Attock police arrested 877 proclaimed offenders and registered cases against 1,458 cases against drug pedlars, said a statement issued by District Police Officer Ali Nasir Rizvi on Saturday.



According to the statement, the police arrested 359 proclaimed offenders and 518 court offenders, while 1,055 people were arrested for possession of illegal arms. The police seized 20kg heroin, 420kg hashish, 4,309 liquor bottles, 21 AK-47s, 51 rifles, 41 sub-machine guns, 10 carbines, 711 pistols, 116 revolvers and 16,812 rounds. The police also booked 26 persons for violating the Amplifier Act. Around 413 complaints were handled by Rescue 15.

The DPO has initiated a campaign against unauthorised display of press and police licence plates on vehicles.
