Narcotics: Control cells in police stations urged
Greater coordination among all stakeholders is necessary for achieving goals of Anti-Narcotics Policy 2010.

Stressing the need of proactive role of police force against drug peddlers, secretary narcotics control Javed Iqbal said that Ministry of Narcotics Control will request provincial administrations to establish special narcotic control cells in police stations. He stated this in a meeting with stakeholders of all four provinces, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan and representatives of various federal ministries. Joint secretary narcotics control Zulqarnain Aamir also addressed the meeting seeking help of provinces to establish special wards at district and tehsil level hospitals for the treatment and rehabilitation of drug addicts. He asserted that for an effective strategy it was important that provincial governments share data of drug users and treatment facilities with the department. He added that greater coordination among all stakeholders is necessary for achieving goals of Anti-Narcotics Policy 2010.
