Actor Alia Bhatt, who plays a Tamil girl in her new film, 2 States, is not just trying to pick the accent but is also learning the typical household culture of a Tamil home.
She is going out of her way to fit the bill as a Tamil girl for the movie which is based on Chetan Bagat’s novel, 2 States: The Story of My Marriage. The tale is about a Punjabi boy who falls in love with a Tamil girl and the ensuing cultural clashes between them and their families.
“She is learning Tamil culture and traditions. She has also hired a special Tamil teacher who will help her adapt to and understand south Indian culture,” a source close to Alia reveals.
Alia, who made her debut with Karan Johar’s Student of the Year in 2012, was also spotted in many south Indian localities to get a grip on her character. She also did a photo shoot recently exhibiting typical south Indian saris.
