Price hike: CNG association protests tax imposition

Prices were increased by Rs12.80 per kg for Region-I.

PESHAWAR:
The All Pakistan CNG Association (APCNG) of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) on Wednesday rejected the tax charges in the recent increase in prices by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra). Prices were increased by Rs12.80 per kg for Region-I, after which APCNG threatened to stage a protest outside Ogra’s office and Parliament House. Addressing a press conference, APCNG K-P Chairman Fazal Mukim said Ogra had recently set the price at Rs74.44 per kg for Region-I, which comprises Potohar, K-P and Balochistan, while Rs65.78 per kg was fixed for Region-II, comprising Sindh and Punjab. Claiming that CNG was already being sold at a loss of Rs8 to Rs10, Mukim said a large number of people selling CNG will take part in these protests if the tax charges remain. However, APCNG chairman also said that sale of CNG will continue despite increase in prices.
