MULTAN: A woman was taken to a hospital with burn injuries on Wednesday after what her in-laws called an attempt at self-immolation. Police said that some neighbours heard 24-year-old Saima Bibi, a resident of Allama Iqbal Town, scream for help. They rushed to her rescue and took her to a hospital, where doctors said that she had suffered burns to 40 per cent of her body. An FIR has been filed on the complaint of Saima Bibi’s brother Nasir, who had nominated her brother-in-law and his wife in the FIR. He told police that they often quarrelled with Saima Bibi. He alleged that they had locked her in a room and set her on fire. Saima Bibi’s in-laws denied the accusation and said that she had tried to burn herself after an argument with her husband. Police said the doctors treating the victim had not so far yet allowed them to talk to the victim.
