The Rawalpindi bench of Lahore High Court admitted a petition against Minhajul Quran International (MQI) chief Tahirul Qadri’s “million-man march” scheduled for January 14, reported Express News on Wednesday.
Petitioner Asad Abbasi prayed to the court to give orders against the long march and initiate proceedings against Qadri as the march was against the state and was a conspiracy to abrogate the Constitution.
Qadri, with Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) support, has called a “million-man march” in Islamabad to demand reforms in the electoral system. Qadri said Islamabad will become a ‘peaceful’ Tahrir Square during the march.
MQM chief Altaf Hussain has expressed full support for Qadri and his cause and has called for the maximum number of people to participate in the march to bring a “revolution” in Pakistan.
