BAHAWALPUR:

Kotwali police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested three men and seized one kilogram hashish, 1,700 bottles of locally manufactured liquor and 106 bottles of imported liquor from them. The men were arrested in raids conducted on the New Year’s eve.

They said three distilleries were unearthed and equipment used to manufacture liquor was seized.

The raids were supervised by Station House Officer Mohsin Sardar. Police said they recovered the hashish from Imran, a resident of Shahdara, while 21 liquor bottles were recovered from Saeed and 35 from Sardar. They later raided a house on information from those arrested and recovered the rest of the bottles.

The two men also led the police to the distilleries.

Separately, Ahmadpur East police arrested 44 ‘suspicious’ men, nine of whom they said were wanted for robbery, murder and kidnap for ransom.
