VC says that new students can benefit from a financial assistance scheme, apply for international scholarships, seek career development advice and use extensive research facilities.

The University of Health Sciences (UHS) welcomed its new batch of postgraduate students here on Tuesday.
During the week-long orientation, new students can meet old students and university staff and immerse themselves in campus life. Academic programmes, lectures and social and educational activities are planned for the week.
“The UHS is a dynamic place to study and is transforming lives through education, world-class research and innovation on a global stage,” said UHS Vice Chancellor Prof IA Naveed in his welcome address at the onset of orientation week.
Prof Naveed said that the university’s research culture supported academic freedom, encouraged radical thinking and challenged orthodoxies. “We aim to maximise the benefits of research by advancing fundamental knowledge and contributing to better public policy, improved health outcomes, economic prosperity, international development, and the quality of life,” he added.
The vice chancellor said that new students could benefit from a financial assistance scheme, apply for international scholarships, seek career development advice and use extensive research facilities.
Students graduating from the university were highly employable and skilled, he added.
There are currently 36,200 undergraduate and 3,362 postgraduate students registered with the UHS, he said. The university offers courses in 71 postgraduate and 25 undergraduate disciplines and has 88 affiliated colleges and institutes.
