Road accident: Five killed as van falls in river

“The accident occurred when the driver lost control over the brakes,” says an Official.

CHITRAL:
Five people were killed and four others injured when a jeep plunged into the Chitral River from a bridge in Shogram village, 50 kilometres north of the city. The jeep was on its way to Chitral from Gokhir village at 8am when it veered off from Shogram Bridge and fell into the river, said an official of the Booni Police. He added that police and locals rushed the bodies and the injured to Booni Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, while the vehicle was completely destroyed. The official said, “The accident occurred when the driver lost control over the brakes. He was driving the jeep on a rough terrain,” adding that the driver had lost a leg in a tractor accident a few years back and drove with an artificial limb. The dead were identified as Jamela, Sanaullah, Soroum Khan, Ghulam and Rehmat Panah, while the injured were Saifullah, Muhammad Ayub, Sahib Khan and driver Raheem.
