University finances: PUTA approves Rs2.5 million budget

A major policy statement for the upcoming year’s Golden Jubilee celebrations was also unveiled in the session.

PESHAWAR:
The proposed 2013-14 budget for Peshawar University Teachers Association was approved in the general body meeting held at the Law College of the university on Tuesday. The budget amounts to Rs2.5 million as compared to last year’s Rs1.6 million. A major policy statement for the upcoming year’s Golden Jubilee celebrations was also unveiled in the session. PUTA has marked 2013 as a celebration year, with international conferences to promote higher education and an expo-exhibition of 48 departments of the university. PUTA President Jameel Ahmed Chitrali thanked the academic fraternity for electing him for a second term. He also welcomed suggestions to increase transport facilities for students who live off-campus. The PUTA was established in 1962.
