Traffic plan: Main arteries of DHA to be blocked on New Year’s eve

Motorcycles without silencers are not allowed on the roads at night on Dec 31.

KARACHI: If you’re a resident of DHA and plan to spend New Year’s Eve outside the area, don’t forget to take your CNIC with you because law enforcers will ask to see it when you come back to the neighbourhood. 

Motorcycles without silencers are also strictly prohibited and law enforcers will take action against those who do not follow this rule.

DIG traffic has announced that there will be blockades on the night of December 31 along the main arteries of DHA, including Khayaban-e-Rumi to Sunset Boulevard. All vehicles coming from Korangi and Akhtar Colony via the Expressway will not be allowed to move through Khayaban-e-Ittehad but will be diverted through Korangi Road, Sharae Faisal, Regent Chowk, Club Chowk, Teen Talwar, Do Talwar, Kothari Parade and 26th Street to get to their destination.

No vehicles would be allowed to move towards Punjab Chowrangi from Mai Kolachi Road and the portion of the road going from the KPT Bridge to the American Consulate will also be barricaded.

Traffic will not be allowed to go from Bilawal Chowrangi towards Clifton Helipad. The road from Boat Basin Chowrangi to Bilawal Chowrangi will also be blocked.

All heavy traffic coming from Maripur Road will not be allowed to move towards Mai Kolachi Road and will be diverted from Jinnah Bridge to reach their destination via Hub River Road and Sharae Pakistan. All large vehicles coming from Korangi Industrial Area will be diverted towards National Highway.

No parking will be allowed along Sharae Faisal, Abdullah Haroon Road, Dr Ziauddin Ahmed Road, Mai Kolachi Road, Korangi Road and MT Khan Road.

People from North Nazimabad, Gulberg Town, Liaquatabad Town, Gulshan Town, New Karachi Town heading towards DHA should use MA Jinnah road, Garden Road, Zaibunnisa Street, Club Chowk, Teen Talwar, Do Talwar, Kothari Parade and 26th Street to get to their destination. Vehicles coming from Gadap Town, Bin Qasim Town, Landhi Town, Korangi Town, Shah Faisal Town, Jamshed Town and Saddar Town towards DHA should also use these paths.

The residents of DHA Phase V and VI can access Phase VII by using the intersections on Khayaban-e-Ittehad, which will be kept open. They include the ones on 26th Street, Saba Avenue, Khayaban-e-Shaheen, Khayaban-e-Shujaat and Khayaban-e-Bahria.
