LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Friday dismissed petitions filed by actress Babra Sharif and others who had challenged the anti-encroachment operation launched by the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) at MM Alam Road, Gulberg. The petitioners submitted that the LDA, in the name of MM Alam Road Widening Project, had started bulldozing their properties. They said the respondent authority had marked parts of their houses as encroachment and were going to demolish them. Opposing the petitions, counsel for the LDA said that the marked portions of the petitioners’ properties were not the part of their houses but had been illegally constructed. He said the only illegal properties were being demolished to expand the MM Alam Road. Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah dismissed the petitions and allowed the LDA to continue the operation.
