Four children injured as bomb explodes outside Charsadda shrine

Explosives had been planted in a garbage heap near Haji Muhammad Amin shrine in Charsadda.

The bomb was planted in a garbage heap near the shrine.

CHARSADDA: Four children were injured in when a bomb exploded outside a shrine in Charsadda on Thursday evening.

SHO Rokhan Zaib of Umerzai police station said that an explosive device planted in a heap of garbage went off near the shrine of Haji Muhammad Amin. The resultant explosion injured as many as four children.

The official added that after the explosion the children were rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital.

Gas pipeline blown up

In another incident in Gulabad area of Battagram, a bomb planted by unidentified militants along a gas pipeline went off destroying the pipe.

Ijaz Khan associated with the Battagram police said that at least two kilogrammes of explosive had been planted near the pipeline. The explosion destroyed the pipeline.

“Soon after the incident the emergency valve from the main distribution point was shut off,” the official added, saying that the police have launched a search operation in the area however, though no arrests have been made yet.
