PESHAWAR:
A Frontier Constabulary (FC) soldier was critically injured on Wednesday morning when he was shot in the head by militants using a sniper rifle on Frontier Road near the border of Khyber Agency.
According to the police, Samiullah was deployed at a check post jointly manned by police and FC. He was rushed to the Lady Reading Hospital where his condition was said to be critical.
Police officials said militants are now using long-range sniper rifles to attack paramilitary forces and police personnel.
“There are houses and bushes in Khyber Agency’s side of the border which provide these sniper shooters with a lot of places to hide and fire at policemen and paramilitary forces deployed at check posts,” said an official. “Samiullah is in a really serious condition,” he added.
The official said that a search operation was carried out in the area, but the attackers managed to escape.
