LAHORE: Syed Makhdoom Ahmed Mehmood took oath as Governor Punjab on Tuesday, Express News reported.

The oath taking ceremony took place at Governor House, Lahore and was administered by Lahore High Court Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial.

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Law Minister Rana Sanaullah, Speaker Rana Iqbal and Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) senior leader Sardar Zulfiqar Khosa attended the ceremony.

Mehmood, former president of the Punjab chapter of Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F), was nominated by President Asif Ali Zardari to replace Sardar Latif Khosa last week.

Having relatives in different political parties, Mehmood had said that in his new role he would try to maintain good relations with every party.

This is the part of the noora kushtee and "baree baree" between ppp and pmln. Zardari has put in place a muslim leaguer as a proof of his commitment to hand over the power to Noon league!
