Pakistan reiterates commitment to non-proliferation of WMDs
Members of SECDIV express satisfaction with steps taken by Pakistan to meet international obligations.
ISLAMABAD:
Pakistan on Monday reiterated its commitment to non-proliferation of the Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMDs).
The commitment was reiterated by the participants a meeting of the Oversight Board of the Strategic Export Control Division (SECDIV) held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to monitor the implementation of the Export Control Act 2004 and the functioning of SECDIV.
The meeting was chaired by Foreign Secretary Jalil Abbas Jilani and attended by members of the Oversight Board from various ministries and organisations.
A detailed presentation was made by the Director General of SECDIV, highlighting the performance of the Division, said a press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The members expressed satisfaction with the steps taken by Pakistan to meet its international obligations as a responsible nuclear-weapon state.
Pakistan’s close cooperation with international community in the field of export control and non-proliferation was appreciated.
A number of decisions were taken to further strengthen the export controls.
