Memogate case: SC issues notices to all stakeholders
Next hearing to be held on January 28.
ISLAMABAD:
The Supreme Court issued notices on Monday to all stakeholders in relation to the contentious memogate case and set January 28 the date for next hearing, Express News reported.
Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry, heading a nine-member larger bench, will hear the case.
The case was brought to light by Mansoor Ijaz - US citizen of Pakistani origin - when he accused former ambassador to the US Hussain Haqqani of writing a memo to US army chief Admiral Mike Mullen seeking the country’s help against a possible military coup in Pakistan.
In the last hearing, the apex court had directed Interior Secretary Siddique Akbar to chalk out a comprehensive security plan for Haqqani during his stay in the country.
The court also directed Haqqani’s counsel to submit a request identifying the threats her client feels, so that appropriate security measures could be taken.
